Top five fantasy TV-shows

I am a massive fan of fantasy, always have, always will be. I'm even attempting to write an entire fantasy novel for a while now... So to say, I like the genre is kind of an understatement. My love for fantasy doesn't stop at literature, it flows into my favorite movies and even my favorite TV-shows. And since I'm always on the look out for new shows to watch, I figured it would be fun to share my favorites with you guys. So, here is my top five fantasy TV-shows!

Supernatural
If you ask me what TV-show I think you should watch next, I will always tell you 'Supernatural'. If you've spent more than three minutes on tumblr, you'll know what the show is about, but for the people who are not as involved in fandoms as I am, I'll give you a short summary. Supernatural is a show about two brothers (Sam and Dean) who've been brought up by their father to hunt supernatural creatures. But then one day, their father disappears and it's up to Sam and Dean to go on a quest to find them. And of course kill a few monsters on the way there.
I personally love Sam and Dean, even though I'm a Dean girl at heart, and especially the bond they share. They're protective of each other in their own special ways and completely badass at what they do. What more can you want?

Teen Wolf
Teen wolf is another modern day classic. It's about two teenage boys, Scott and Stiles, who have been best friends for years. One night, they go out into the woods for the other half of a dead body that has been found by the police when Scott gets chased by a wild animal and gets bitten by it. After that, their world gets thrown upside down. Can Scott control his new werewolf form?
The main reason I watch Teen Wolf is because of the sarcastic genius that is Stiles Stilinski. I love his quick wit and allround awkwardness, it's something you don't often see in shows like this. Fantasy characters are mostly these really suave men who know exactly how to deal with everything that is going wrong in their world, but not Stiles. Even though he is human, he may be my favorite hero of this story. Derek Hale is a very close second, though.

Shadowhunters
Shadowhunters is a very new Netflix series that I knew I would love before I even saw the first episode. There are only five episodes out so far, but it's great. I've already mentioned this one in my January Favorites post, which you can read here.
There's only one thing I can say to make you watch it: gay glittery warlocks. Let's be honest, if that doesn't make you want to watch it, I don't know what is.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Buffy is a way old school TV-show about a girl named Buffy who is (suprise, suprise) a vampire slayer and is awesome at that, but is kind of failing to deal with the everyday life of a teenage girl. It's always funny, sometimes sad, but an overall great show. Besides, who doesn't want to watch a show where a young David Boreanaz plays a broody and mysterious vampire?

Ghost Whisperer
Now, some people will argue that this show shouldn't be classified as fantasy, seeing as there are actually people who can see ghosts, but there are simply to many explosions and stuff in the show to be believable. It's about a young woman who is able to talk to ghosts and helps them to cross over to the other side. Sometimes, the ghosts seek her out for help, but most of the time they are suffering souls stuck in a limbo between our world and theirs.
I used to be completely obsessed with this show for years when I was younger, I think this may be the first ever fantasy show/movie I ever watched! I used to love the special effects, which looking back on it now are pretty crappy, but the story line was always interesting and never dragged on for longer than what was needed. If you're interested in ghosts and spirits, this is definitely a show you should check out!

Those were my favorite fantasy TV-shows, what are some of yours?
